I won, I won!!!

I never used to enter contests. I would do a rough calculation of my chances of winning and then decide that the 10 seconds I’d needed to sign-up would not be worth it.

Well, not anymore people. In the past two months I have won not one, but two AMAZING prizes on the internet. A few months ago I entered a contest over on Britmums where I had to tell my worst kid-clean up disaster story for a chance to win a gift certificate. I recounted the tale of the time the kids put a whole roll of toilet paper in the toilet and then fished it back out again to “mop” the bathroom floor. Procter & Gamble (contest sponsors) and Britmums were so horrified that they awarded me a ￡200 voucher to John Lewis. I bought a kitchen table.

High on success I started to enter more contests. I tried for handbags and tupperware, free kid snacks, random baby toys. You name it, I signed up. And then nothing….

Until Sunday morning.

I was just minding my own business when I saw a message pop up on the Nomad Mom Diary Facebook page:

Jenny Netmums: Hi Lynn, can you check your messages in your ‘other’ folder on your personal Facebook page please – you might have a lovely surprise xx

I hauled ass downstairs, knocked a kid or two over in my rush to get to the computer and frantically searched for my Other messages folder. And I found this:

Hi Lynn,
Congratulations!!
You have been randomly chosen as the winner of our Plum Climbing Frame competition on Netmums Facebook page.

My heart started racing. I remembered that competition because it was for one of those once in a lifetime prizes – a ￡995 (that’s like $1400) amazing wooden outdoor playset.

I reversed my path, knocked the kids over again, and ran upstairs to Nomad Papa yelling, “Look what I won! Look what I won!”

Total disbelief.

Just look at it!

Needless to say, I am pretty darned proud of myself. And immensely grateful to Netmums for their awesome competition (check out what they have up next). Thanks to them and the good folks at Plum Products, my kids are getting the greatest Christmas present ever.
