For those of you who read this blog and don’t know me personally, I’ll let you in on a little secret. I really can’t stand the holidays. The push and pull of Nomad Papa’s family versus my own family versus my intense desire to stay home. The pressure to decorate and bake and wear terrible holiday-themed sweaters. But most of all, the stress of trying to find the perfect gift for my family members is almost more than I can bear.
Seriously, what the heck do you buy for people who will go out and buy whatever it is they want themselves? In my family, the ‘go to’ gifts are cash and pajama pants. These are all well and good, but I think we are all coming to the conclusion that there is a limit to the number of flannel pjs one can own (hint: it is 12 pairs). And while we all love cash, I might as well put it in an envelope that says “I clearly didn’t care enough about you to put any effort into a gift” on the outside.
Well, this year is going to be different. I am not flying back to the States (at least, I hope not), so I have the perfect excuse to order everything online and have it shipped in. And I know where I am going to be ordering from (Christy, stop reading now unless you want to spoil your present). It is a new website called My Urbanware.
Here are the reasons why I am super-stoked about MyUrbanware.ca:
- It’s Canadian. (Huh? I’m sure you’re wondering why this matters. It matters because it means that the likelihood that my mom or sister already bought something from them is slim.)
- It’s all handmade. (Nothing screams “EXPENSIVE” like being able to say “oh this little thing, it was custom-made for me”. And as everything is Canadian-made by Canadian artisans, they’ll never have to worry about running into someone with the same outfit. And it isn’t really that expensive, so I can afford to look like I splurged.)
- It’s all online. (This one is self-explanatory.)
- The merchandise is AMAZING. (Ok, truth be told, I might not get my mom and sister anything from My Urbanware…it is really, really hard to go on the site and not buy 10 things for yourself. If I run out of money before I get to the gifts part of my list, I am totally blaming the whole nation of Canada. You can see my favs on my Holiday Wish List board on Pinterest.)
Anyways….you don’t have to take my word for it. You can see for yourself and maybe even win a free purse from the site. A free purse that you are *NOT* allowed to stuff with diapers and desitin. This little baby is only for Mama.
Enter to win below and then head on over to MyUrbanware.ca and start shopping for yourself. I mean your Christmas list. (Wink, wink.)
