How to Make an Awesome Video of Your Kids

10.02.2014 by Lynn Morrison /

Like every other iParent, I love making videos of my kids. Unfortunately, my kids are often less enthusiastic. As soon as I pull out the iPhone, they either start acting like complete monkeys OR they go running in the opposite direction. Either way, I end up with a video that not even a mom could love.

One of my friends shared a video the other day of her kids and it was totally adorbs. Like seriously! It looked like a professional had put it together for her. I immediately messaged her. “Where’d you go to make that movie?” I asked. “Nowhere, can’t you see that’s my living room?” she answered. “How the HECK did you do it?” I furiously messaged back.

She told me.

Using her handy dandy iPhone and the new One Day instant movie maker app, she recorded little snippets and they magically turned into a cute video. So simple even an idiot (i.e. me) could do it.

I had to give it a try. I downloaded the app this afternoon (FREE!) and tracked the kids down to the living room. Finding them trapped together in an armchair, I knew I’d never find a better opportunity to give it a whirl.

It was sooooo simple!

Here’s how the app works. You pick from a long list of themes, organized by age. I picked the animal sounds one. The app then opens up a camera screen and prompts you with questions to ask the kids. “What sound does a dog make?” “What does the cat say?” and so on. You record each question and answer individually – and you can re-record any that the kids flub along the way.

When you are done filming, just click to watch the whole movie and it will compile all of the clips together into one themed video. Here, you can check ours out below:

To sum up, if you are video editing challenged like I am, go and download the One Day instant movie maker app. It is FREE (did I mention that it’s free?), so you don’t have any excuse for not doing so.

And – on top of this awesome FREE app – you can also enter to win a $250 Target giftcard (US/Canada except Quebec).

a Rafflecopter giveaway

{Disclosure – I received compensation for sharing the link to the app. However, I really do love this app and I wouldn’t have agreed to participate in the promotion if I didn’t it. Go download it, ok?}
