I’ve been hiding under a rock for the last week because I have HUGE, GIGANTIC news to share.
Every time I sat down at my computer last week to write, this would come out:
Holy shit, I’m in a book!
Blog posts, facebook messages, tweets, work emails, notes to my kids’ teachers….the recipient was irrelevant. The message was always the same. So I had to duct tape my hands together, hide the computer and place myself on a blog moratorium so that I wouldn’t blow the announcement.
Which brings us to today, when I can FINALLY say, “HOLY SHIT, I’M IN A BOOK!”
Whew, feels good to get that out.
Here’s how it happened: In mid-December, I got an email from Jen of People I Want to Punch in the Throat. I started hyperventilating when I saw her name in the preview screen. She said, “I wanted to invite you to submit an original essay for consideration for a NEW anthology I am putting together.”
Much running around, screaming and throwing my hands in the air. When I could stand still again, I went back and read some more of the message: “I am looking for funny, hysterical, make me cry essays that I can publish in the anthology.”
OMG, the pressure. I wrote over my Christmas holidays. I wrote more in January. I made Magnolia Ripkin and Meredith from Bad Sandy (aka the two most fabulous editor extraordinaires I know) read draft after draft. I edited and edited again and finally in late January, I submitted the most amazing thing I have ever written. And then I had to wait almost two weeks to hear back. I don’t know what was worse….the waiting to hear back or the knowing I was in and having to sit on the news for another two weeks.
Now it is here and it is real and, best of all, YOU CAN PRE-ORDER THE BOOK NOW! HOORAY!
I JUST WANT TO BE ALONE
Don’t get us wrong, we love the men in our lives – we do (most of the time). It’s just that sometimes we would like them to go away. Not forever or anything like that. Just for an hour … or a day … or a weekend. We want some time to ourselves to read a good book or take a walk or do anything other than try to make a dent in the never ending mound of dirty clothes that keeps piling up on his side of the bed. We just want to be alone. All alone. Is that too much to ask?
I Just Want to Be Alone is a collection of humorous essays from 37 of the most Super Cool Lady Writers you’ll find on the web.
Why wait? You are guaranteed to get the best price by pre-ordering I Just Want to Be Alone right now!

I am slathering on the red lipstick as I type. Oh wait, the book doesn’t come out for a few more weeks. Oops! For you, my favorite supermom, anything!

I’m still kind of in awe to be in such great company–you included–but I’m just going to enjoy it before someone realizes they made a mistake 😉 Thank you for all the work that you’re doing and I can’t wait to read this whole thing!

Don’t tell anyone, but you are my new fav blogger….although you probably know that since I have been facebook stalking every post you put up. I’m in awe too, sister. And I’m so glad that the cover design is done….now that my name is on there it will be harder to boot me out when everyone realizes I’ve somehow snuck in.
